I didn't give much either. Maybe two or three times a year I would remember to donate for literature - less than $5. I worked a low paying part-time job so that I could pioneer - work for them for free. My little bit of money was mine.
i'm often asked of people about the wts "what's the motive, is it control or money?".
how much money do you think the average jw contributes to the wts each month?
is this personal money, money from selling books or what?
There was a thread a little while ago that explained how they make it seem that every convention and assembly is always running at a deficit. But I can't rember the trick. Can anyone explain this again or post the thread?
And welcome Mr. BornAgain!
thanks to the last three paragraphs of this week's wt being devoted to complete insanity, i passed a tiny, tiny, little mile-stone in fading.
i didn't comment once during the wt!!
i usually try to make one comment that doesn't make my stomach turn too much to keep up my good, active-dub appearances.
Well, was it because of angeilc direction that while pioneering the only people who I talked to were old men who knew more about the Watchtower than I did? Was Jehovah trying to lead me out of his orginasation by sending me to the homes of "wicked apostates"? Or maybe the angels took the day off when I went out in service and failed to protect me?
some people's avatars make me smile, others make me think.
there are some that i just love to look at.
here are some of my favorites off the top of my head.
my favorite!
how do jw's get around this verse?
john 1:3 - "3through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
" i honestly can't remember and can't find anything in the pubs that deals with it.
Yes, like Blues Brother said. When JW's read that verse they see the word "other" - all other things were created. You can read the words that really are there to them all that you want but they won't get it because "obvoiusly" that's the only way it makes sence, duh.
why a paradise earth is so appealing to jws?.
well no one can say they look around at the problems today and can say they like everything they see.
so a nice clean paradise world would be pretty great.
I have tried to make the same arguments as Lady Lee, no grocery stores, no clothing stores, no cars, no Home Depot. Everything will be destroyed, power plants, sewer systems, farms, communication systems. Nobody wanted to think about the work, just their dream homes with emerald floors (an elders wife told me that's what she would have in the paradise). The answer I always got was, no, see everything will be perfect. We'll have perfect cars that don't pollute and perfect electricity. And we will be perfect so we will automaticly know how to make perfect food and Jeovah will make us magical clothing like he did for Adam and Eve.
the book study overseer hasn't asked why i won't come to the bookstudy, he gets .
be the month i stopped going to the k.h.
not going this week than it was about missing other meetings.. i told her that i would not be going to the meetings at all anymore.
Congratulations on no more meetings! It really feels good to quit. I believe that your wife will eventually join you. It gets awfully tiresome enduring the " oh, is your husband not feeling well? why hasen't he been here? tell him we miss him." three times a week. And you know they don't mean it. When Drew quit meetings the mock sympathy from the "friends" made the meetings 100 times worse for me. Hopefully the same will happen for your wife, and if she already has doubts...seems like things are looking up!
mine would have to be "dark days are here!
men live in fear!....
" followed by the annoying change to a happy beat before the chorus "but the bible gives us a reason for cheer.." .
I confirm Sir82 is correct. Too many times have I sung about molested bees and agreed to beat them off.
